1st semester reflection

 Throughout first semester I think that I have made progress. My quality of work has gotten better, Im still learning how to do things on photoshop but Im still trying my best to get around and ask questions. I try to put effort into my projects even if I don't know what exactly to do. I have confidence in the photos that I take and I take a lot, then choose from a smaller group of the photo I want to use for my assignment. My participation skills are very good, I think. Im always coming to class on time, work throughout the period, work independently, unless I need help, and lastly I stay on task pretty well and use class time wisely. I definitely want to improve my photos using more compelling images, stronger concepts and better composition. During second semester when I miss Im going to make sure I turn in projects that I wasn't here for, so I can maintain a better grade. I think one photographer took all of these photos. I think they took about 35-40 photos used for that project. I think some of the photos were taken when the sun was setting. I don't think they photoshopped anything I think they just made the picture grainy and it had action it it to where you can see that the car was moving in the photo a little bit as well as the people.

1. Do you think the the "Burns Effect"--scanning, panning and zooming across old photographs--is an effective way to document an historical event?   Yes I think the burns effect is an effective way to document a historical event. 2. If you believe that it is, what about the technique is effective? If you don't think that it is, what would be a better way to visually present the information? To me I think that the technique is effective as well. 3. Other than the Narrator's voice, there are moments with background noise and other moments with a musical score. What do you feel is the reason for placing the music where it was placed? I think the reason for the different sounds it to kind of show feeling or emotion. 4. Although undoubtedly "cleaned up" many of the photographs contain imperfections. Do you feel that this adds to, or detracts from, the success of the scene?
